Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the substance was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important representative stated the attack rendered him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
